As VFL players prepare to lace up their footy boots ahead of round 1 this week, Kinetic community partner, Frankston Football Club, has big plans to deliver positive change both on and off the field.
The partnership now in its sixth year supports Frankston FC’s aspirations to be a leader in diversity and inclusion.
This season marks a significant step as the club introduces a second women's team, a move that underscores their commitment to providing pathways for women.
The club also plans to build on its work by honouring Indigenous traditions, expanding opportunities for women's football and promoting a supportive environment for all individuals involved in the club.
Frankston Football Club CEO Fraser Bayne said the partnership was a catalyst for bringing people in the community together.
"Sport isn't just about what happens on the field. It's about the community we build. With Kinetic by our side, we're taking intentional steps to make our club a place where everyone feels like they belong,” said Mr Bayne.
Kinetic’s Executive General Manager – VIC/NSW/TAS, Graham Smith, said he was excited to strengthen the partnership with the club in 2024.
“By sharing a purpose and values, our partnership creates opportunities for people to come together and connect over their shared love of footy,” Mr Smith said.
Plans for the 2024 season include First Nation activations as part of the Sir Douglas Nicholls round, working with the AFL South East to host a Pride game, and upgrades to the ground to ensure access for footy fans of all abilities.
The club also has a focus on increasing participation among women as a signatory to the Women & Girls Community Football Charter. It is also one of five clubs to participate in the AFL Inclusive Clubs and Gender Equity Education Program to be held later this year.
Kinetic, through SkyBus, has supported the club since 2018 when it returned to the VFL competition and last year renamed the stadium to Kinetic Stadium under a four-year partnership extension.
