  • Kinetic joins thousands marching at 2025 Hobart's TasPride Parade
  • Among the Pride Champions were drivers Bianca and Chris, supported by local leaders
  • Kinetic's 'Pride Bus' also returned to the event, driving the message "You are loved"

Kinetic proudly took part in the TasPride Parade in Hobart, with team members and their families joining thousands marching through the city streets at this year’s event.

Leading the parade was Kinetic’s Pride Bus, on the road in Tasmania since 2023, driven by Kinetic driver Bianca Kingston.

“Driving the bus in the parade was a very proud moment for me—being part of that and to spread the message that at Kinetic, you are loved.”

As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, Bianca believes events like these are important opportunities to show respect and mindfulness.

“People are just people, after all. It's really humbling to be part of Kinetic and strengthen the community we already have.”

With the continued support of Pride Champions like SkyBus Hobart Manager Corey Slade and Kinetic’s Manager Southern Tasmania, Grace van Beest, Bianca hopes the company’s participation in Pride events will encourage greater diversity in the bus industry.

“As part of the LGBTQI+ community, it’s personally and professionally important to me. We need more diversity in bus driving and in this industry as a whole. It’s good to encourage others to come onboard.”

Kinetic bus driver Chris Walters also marched, walking with his family alongside fellow Pride Champions for the second time with Kinetic.

“We go to support our daughter. We live in a small place that can be judgy, so seeing the community spirit, people lining the streets, everybody cheering and happy, it’s a really good family occasion.”

For the first time, people could participate in the parade by riding the Pride Bus, making the event more inclusive for those unable to walk the entire way.

“That was the best thing about this year's march—giving people who can't move around or walk so freely somewhere to go to be part of it. We even had a grandmother and great grandmother marching from inside the bus.”

Chris gathered an impressive nine family members and friends to join the celebration alongside other Kinetic team members.

“It’s really nice to work for a company that’s so supportive and involved and aware of what’s going on in the world. Kinetic’s support of the queer community is absolutely astounding.”

Bianca shares Chris’ experience, considering Kinetic a welcoming and caring place to work.

“It’s a friendly team environment to be a part of and it's a great community to support.”

Looking ahead, Bianca is eager for next year’s TasPride march and hopes it can include Kinetic’s team members in the state’s north.

“It’s important to me that those at other Kinetic locations can participate next year. Hopefully, we can get people down to Hobart for the day.”

“Absolutely I'll be there next year doing anything I can.”
