For those looking to kick start a new career in the transport industry, there has never been a better time, with Kinetic launching a major recruitment drive across the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.
Kinetic is looking to attract over 70 new bus drivers across Kinetic’s six local depots in Murwillumbah, Tweed, Currumbin, Molendinar and Coomera with full-time, part-time and casual positions available.
Martin Hall, Kinetic’s Executive General Manager for South East Queensland and Tweed, said demand for drivers has surged following recent service uplifts which have expanded the public transport network.
“Opportunities are available for both experienced heavy vehicle drivers and also those who currently only hold a car license through our license upgrade programs,” he said.
“We need good people to drive buses around our communities and get passengers to their destinations safely.
“There is fully paid training on offer which will give you the keys to a stable career that can take you anywhere.”
Across the region Kinetic operates 400 vehicles, delivering more than 60 government-contracted urban route and school bus services in partnership with Transport for New South Wales and Translink with a team of more than 700 dedicated bus drivers.
Madonna Hegerty, Kinetic’s Executive General Manager for People and Safety said a key focus of the recruitment drive is bringing new faces into the transport industry by recruiting new female bus drivers through the Women Up Front trainee program.
“Women currently make up about 20 percent of our bus drivers across Kinetic and our goal is to achieve gender balance by 2030,” she said.
“Women Up Front was originally launched on the Gold Coast and has now expanded across Australia with over 250 women becoming drivers through the program this year.
“The program only takes five weeks and you will be behind the wheel as a bus driver with all your training and qualifications fully paid.
“It’s a great opportunity to make a career change in a supportive environment and over the course of 12 months, all Women Up Front graduates complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Driving Operations.”
