Influential leaders from Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom have gathered in Melbourne for Kinetic’s inaugural Global Leaders Summit (GLS), an initiative designed to unify the team behind a common purpose.

The landmark event marked the first gathering of Kinetic’s international team, offering an invaluable opportunity to reflect on the remarkable strides the company has taken as a burgeoning transport platform, while also charting an exhilarating course for future progress.

Kinetic CEO Michael Sewards said the event was the chance to hear about the things happening at Kinetic every day.

“We’ve brought together some great leaders, and what we’ve tried to focus on is how Kinetic is effecting change in our communities, and our sustainability heroes and what they mean,” he said.

“Yes, we run buses and trains, and we provide a fantastic service, but this event was about delving deeper and learning what can we do to improve our communities and amplifying the voices of those touched by Kinetic’s initiatives.”

Across the span of the two days, the summit provided a dynamic platform for the exchange of stories and experiences, with attendees captivated by some of Kinetic’s key partnerships with community organisations.

Matt Tilley of Foodbank Victoria shared poignant accounts of the organisation's collaboration with Kinetic, highlighting the tangible difference made in the lives of countless families across Victoria through vital food relief efforts spanning two years.

From Queensland, Renee Cohen of the Gold Coast Titans shared the successes of the club’s growing community program, buoyed by Kinetic’s support over three consecutive years.

The team visiting from Auckland showcased their milestone achievement of delivering 100 zero-emission buses, coupled with extensive infrastructure upgrades across four depot facilities, to the city in partnership with Auckland Transport.

Calum Haslop, Kinetic’s Head of New Zealand, remarked, “It’s an incredible opportunity for our leaders from across New Zealand to share stories and get to know the Australian team and more broadly about what Kinetic stands for and our future trajectory,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Manchester contingent detailed their triumphant navigation of the transition to overseeing the first phase of the city’s newly franchised Bee Network—a monumental endeavour requiring the efforts of 1,000 colleagues over nearly a year of planning.

Esteemed independent non-executive director at Kinetic, Janine Stewart, underscored the Board’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the employee experience.

“We spend an enormous amount of time talking about talent, success and the experience people have when they come to work every day. We’re an organisation now globally of over 33,000 people and we need to pay attention to that and make sure the experience is a positive one,” Ms Stewart said.

As part of the event, Kinetic supported Melbourne-based charity PosiSchools with a financial donation and 10 bicycles which were assembled as part of a team building exercise.

Kinetic plans to host GLS on a regular basis, travelling to different locations to learn and empower its leaders, and continue to propel the business forward.
