As the Gold Coast gears up for the 2032 Olympics, Kinetic is paving the way for a smarter, greener, and more inclusive future in transport—and it starts with great people.
Kinetic projects that the Gold Coast will require over 1000 bus drivers on its roads by 2030, driven by the upcoming Olympics and the city’s anticipated population growth.
To meet this growing demand, Kinetic brought together the region’s leading recruitment and employment agencies last week to showcase bus driving as a career opportunity in the Gold Coast and highlight how the company is driving change in transport sustainability and workforce diversity.
Kinetic is actively seeking to expand the city’s local bus driver workforce as it prepares for delivery of an increased number of passenger journeys ahead of 2032.
With a commitment to transition all urban bus services to 100 per cent electric by 2035 and a target of workforce gender balance by 2030, Kinetic is actively shaping the future of transport while creating rewarding careers for people from all walks of life.
Whether transitioning from a different industry or looking for a fresh start, Kinetic’s training programs make it easy to step into a future-focused role:
Kinetic’s long-term community partner, the Gold Coast Titans, were on the ground to support the event, highlighting the company’s strong local ties and its commitment to driving positive change across the region.
Kinetic’s local Executive General Manager, Martin Hall, says the event was about showcasing the industry’s transformation and inspiring more people to get on board.
"This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be part of something bigger—the shift towards cleaner, smarter, and more inclusive public transport," Mr Hall said.
"As the Gold Coast grows and the countdown to the Brisbane Olympics continues, we need passionate people to help us shape the future. Transportation is a hugely resilient and rewarding industry, and by building workforce diversity and participation, we’re securing a more sustainable and resilient future for the sector.”
With a team of over 700 people and a fleet of 400 buses delivering 14 million passenger journeys a year, Kinetic is one of the biggest employers on the Gold Coast.
The company is building a workplace that reflects and strengthens the communities it serves, from depot operations across Tweed Heads, Currumbin, Molendinar and Coomera.
