As Kinetic has continued to expand over the last 12 months, so has its influence. Fundraising efforts for BCNA doubled that of last year thanks to the incredible company-wide response that saw many teams digging deep to raise $40,000.
Kinetic depots across Australia went all out for the cause as part of an annual fundraising initiative which started at SkyBus in 2016.
The team got behind the cause with unrivalled enthusiasm, especially after hearing from Kinetic driver Gaetan d’Avoine from Melbourne. Gaetan shared with Kinetic the devastating impact breast cancer has had on his family, saying he has “lost count” of how many family members have passed away from the disease.
Having inherited a genetic predisposition from his father’s side, Gaetan’s story reminds us that anyone — including men — can be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Kinetic teams faced friendly competition while fundraising, vying for the best-dressed depot, which saw a wave of pink wash over them. In addition to the funds raised, there were creations like a bra out of pink plastic bowls, wigs and tutus, and nail polish and hair dye used to achieve maximum pinkness.
“We had an incredible response to our fundraising efforts during the month of October,” said Mr Sewards.
“I want to offer a huge thank-you to everyone who donated and participated contributing $40,000 to this really important organisation, which is a record for Kinetic.”
All money raised will be used to support the amazing work BCNA does in the community, providing essential information and support services for those affected by breast cancer.
“This is an organisation that largely survives and exists by donations from the corporate world and the broader community,” Mr Sewards said.
“It is dear to me and my family after my wife Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. The support they provided was invaluable to us as a young family and it was ever-lasting.”
