Kinetic proudly unveiled a vibrant new addition to its fleet in Cairns, as the latest Pride Bus joined in the Cairns Festival Grand Parade on the weekend.

This colourful symbol of inclusion made its grand debut as Kinetic team members joined in the parade to celebrate ‘Colour and Diversity in the Tropics’.

Kinetic’s Pride Bus initiative, launched in 2022, now boasts a fleet of 14 buses that serve as beacons of inclusivity across Central Queensland, the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Wellington, Auckland and now, Cairns.

Each bus proudly displays the Progress Pride Flag and the words “You are Loved,” sending a powerful and resounding message that safety, respect, and acceptance are fundamental rights for all.

Martin Hall, Kinetic’s Executive General Manager for Northern Queensland shared his enthusiasm for the program expanding to Cairns.

“We are thrilled to bring the Pride Bus to Cairns, a city that embodies diversity and community spirit,” he said.

“This bus is more than just a vehicle; it’s a moving symbol of our commitment to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and valued in the communities we serve.”

The launch of the Cairns Pride Bus coincided with a nationwide celebration of LGBTQI+ inclusion, with Kinetic teams set to acknowledge Wear It Purple Day on Friday 30 August in support of rainbow youth.

“As we continue to grow our Pride Bus fleet, we are also growing our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment,” Mr Hall said.

“Our participation in the Cairns Festival Grand Parade is a celebration of that commitment and a reminder that everyone should feel free to be their true selves.”

The Pride Bus will be seen operating across Cairns, serving as a daily reminder of the importance of inclusion, diversity, and love for all.

In June 2023, Kinetic achieved a Bronze accreditation in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) for the first time.

Madonna Hegerty, Kinetic’s Executive General Manager, People and Safety said this result reflects an ongoing commitment and action towards creating a more inclusive workplace.

“We know these initiatives deliver genuine benefits and our most recent AWEI Survey in 2024 revealed a 10 per cent increase in Kinetic team members feeling comfortable being out and open at work.”
