The Tasmanian Bus Association (TasBus) has used its 2024 Conference and AGM to announce Kinetic’s Grace Van Beest as its newest board member.

Grace, who oversees Kinetic’s dynamic operations in southern Tasmania, is an emerging industry leader with over 15 years’ experience in the local bus industry.

General Manager for TasBus, Steve Henty, said Grace’s vast knowledge and insights would help strengthen the association’s promotion of Tasmania’s bus industry.

“We’re here to work with all stakeholders to provide Tasmanian communities with a viable and alternative travel choice to car, and the bus industry is an important element to ensuring the future sustainability of the state’s land transport system,” Mr Henty said.

“To sustain the longevity of this exciting industry we need a diversity of experience and opinion, and our strength comes from the fact that we have a range of different voices.”

“Grace brings a great amount of experience and energy to the board which will be influential as we navigate change and advocate for progress in the industry across Tasmania.”

TasBus says its board is among one of the most gender diverse in Australia’s bus industry, with 45 per cent of the directors women.

Ms Van Beest said she was excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the TasBus board.

“Over 15 years I’ve worked in a range of positions and seen first-hand the career opportunities this sector provides individuals and how essential it is to connecting local communities,” she said.

“I’m really happy to be recognised and nominated by my colleagues and I’m looking forward to connecting with other leaders to help Tasmania’s bus industry thrive.

“Tasmania has a bright future and I’ll be bringing plenty of passion and enthusiasm to the table to lead positive outcomes that impact our people and the community.”

Grace joined Kinetic when the operator acquired family-owned O’Driscolls Coaches in 2023. Her election to the TasBus board comes less than six months after her appointment to lead Kinetic’s operation in southern Tasmania.
