Kinetic’s dedication to driving gender balance in the transport industry has earned the company the 2024 Director’s Award for Excellence in Social Sustainability, presented by one of Kinetic's major shareholders, Foresight.

This recognition highlights the collaborative effort of Kinetic’s Talent Acquisition, Training, and Service Delivery teams who have embraced the company’s flagship strategy across Australia and New Zealand to build a more inclusive and supportive workplace.

At the heart of the strategy are the Women Up Front – Trainee Bus Driver program and the Future CEO program, both designed to open doors for women in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

These initiatives, alongside Kinetic’s investment in improving workplace amenities for women and gender-diverse individuals, have paved the way for more inclusive recruitment, training, and career development.

The award was presented in December at Foresight's ENGAGE Conference, a two-day event celebrating sustainability across its portfolio of clean energy and infrastructure businesses.

Angela Leung, Kinetic’s Head of Sustainability and Community Engagement, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“We’re committed to building a culture that embraces gender diversity and supports women in achieving their career goals,” she said. “It’s exciting to see this strategy become a core part of our organisation and receive the full support of shareholders.”

In 2024, almost 300 women were recruited through Kinetic’s Women Up Front – Trainee Bus Driver program, marking significant progress in the company’s mission to target gender balance by 2030.

The program was also formally launched in New Zealand in 2024, with Kinetic’s first cohort of female trainees through the program welcomed into the company’s Auckland operations.

Kinetic’s Executive General Manager for People and Safety - Australia, Madonna Hegerty, said that these initiatives are important in empowering women to thrive at Kinetic.

“Our team are proud to drive these programs to support women and give them the skills they need to have a successful career in the transport industry,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to see these efforts recognised by our shareholders and dedicate this award to the women of Kinetic who are moving our communities every day.”
