UPDATE 20 December - Tropical Cyclone Jasper - Cairns bus services to resume 21 December 2023
Update Wednesday 20 December - Cairns bus services to commence from 5am Thursday 21 December 2023
From 5am tomorrow (Thursday 21 December) bus services will resume operations in Cairns and will operate to a Saturday timetable minus overnight shifts.
Services will also operate to a Saturday timetable on Friday 22 December before returning to regular scheduled weekend services on Saturday and Sunday.
Please note that buses do not operate on Christmas Day in Cairns and there will be no services on Monday 25 December while a Sunday timetable will be in place on Boxing Day (Tuesday 26 December).
We thank the community and our team members for their patience and support while services are restored. Disruptions are likely to occur including diversions and other route changes as a result of ongoing road closures and traffic changes.
Kinetic apologises for the disruption resulting from Tropical Cyclone Jasper and subsequent flooding which significantly impacted our operations infrastructure.
Update Sunday 17 December 2023 - Cairns bus services to remain suspended until further notice
Due to significant ongoing rainfall and a current emergency flood warning in place for Cairns all local Kinetic bus services will remain suspended until further notice.
With multiple road closures currently in place across Cairns, bus services will not resume on Monday 18 December.
A further update on bus services will be provided tomorrow timing of service resumption is subject to weather and road conditions.

Monday 11 December - Tropical Cyclone Jasper - Impacts to Cairns bus services from 5:00pm Tuesday 12 October 2023
Due to forecast weather conditions resulting from Tropical Cyclone Jasper all Kinetic bus services in Cairns will be suspended from 17:00 (5pm) Tuesday 12 October until further notice.
Tropical Cyclone Jasper is expected to make landfall in the vicinity of Cairns on Wednesday 13 December and services will remain suspended until operations can be safely resumed.
Kinetic regrets the impact this suspension of services may have on passengers and the decision has been made in the interests of community safety, and the safety of our team members.
