In Wellington, we operate 132 buses under long-term contracts with Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) moving approximately 9.3 million passengers per annum.
Our fleet comprises single deck and double deck buses, including 56 battery electric buses as we support the city's transition to Net Zero. Our team consists of 260 drivers and 40 support staff including bus cleaners, workshop staff, administrators, supervisors and managers.
Te Upoko-o-te-Ika-a-Māui, meaning "The Head of the Fish of Māui" (often shortened to Te Upoko-o-te-Ika), is the traditional Māori name for the Wellington Region, deriving from the legend of the fishing up of the island by the demi-god Māui. The city of Wellington is often called Pōneke in Māori
